Heesen Yachts today announced the appointment of Jeroen van der Meer as Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2025. This leadership transition marks an important step in the shipyard’s long-term growth strategy under the ownership of Laurens Last.

Van der Meer takes over from Niels Vaessen, who is stepping down as CEO by mutual agreement with the company. Vaessen has been an integral part of Heesen for more than a decade, first serving as Chief Financial Officer before becoming CEO. The shipyard expresses its sincere appreciation for his 13 years of commitment and leadership.

Born and raised in Vlissingen, van der Meer’s connection to the maritime world began early, his father worked as both a ship captain and maritime pilot. With a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from Eindhoven University, he has built a distinguished career focused on restructuring, investment, and innovation within complex manufacturing environments. Known for championing operational excellence, van der Meer has a proven record of introducing automation and lean manufacturing practices that streamline production and reduce time to market.
