Lufthansa is set to mark a remarkable milestone in 2026: 100 years since the establishment of the first Lufthansa in 1926. To celebrate this centenary, the airline will introduce a distinctive “anniversary fleet,” blending classic design elements with modern innovation.
Key aircraft across Lufthansa’s fleet will feature a bespoke livery celebrating the 100-year history. The design incorporates the airline’s signature blue fuselage, highlighted by a white crane whose wings elegantly extend into the aircraft’s own wings. Complementing the crane motif, a “100” is displayed on the left side of the fuselage, with the inscription “1926 / 2026” on the right. Passengers and onlookers will also notice the “100” on the underside of the planes.
Leading the commemorative fleet will be the brand-new Boeing 787-9 “Berlin” (registration D-ABPU), which is scheduled to arrive in Frankfurt this December. Following this, an Airbus A380, Airbus A350-1000, Airbus A350-900, Airbus A320, and Boeing 747-8 will be added to the collection.
The rollout of the new design will be gradual, with Lufthansa anticipating the complete anniversary fleet to be in service by fall 2026.
