Videoworks has completed the design, integration and commissioning of an extensive audio-visual, IT and communications platform aboard the 67-metre CRN superyacht Amor à Vida, creating a connected onboard environment that brings together entertainment, automation, communications and cybersecurity.

Developed to support both private cruising and charter operations, the installation is based around a centralised infrastructure designed to simplify servicing while maintaining flexibility and reliability over the long term. AV and network equipment has been consolidated into dedicated equipment racks rather than distributed across the vessel, helping to create a more streamlined and accessible installation.

“With Amor à Vida, our objective was to create a single, fully integrated digital ecosystem that combines entertainment, communications, automation and cybersecurity while remaining simple to operate and maintain. By centralizing the infrastructure and adopting AV-over-IP technologies, we have delivered a platform that offers exceptional flexibility, reliability and future scalability for both owner and charter operations.”

– Maurizio Minossi, CEO of Videoworks.

A high-performance IP network forms the backbone of the system, enabling the distribution of high-definition video and premium-quality audio throughout the yacht. The architecture allows guests to access entertainment across a wide range of onboard spaces while also providing scope for future technological upgrades.

Crestron’s automation platform provides centralised control of entertainment, lighting and other onboard systems via tablets and smartphones. Meanwhile, a dedicated application for the yacht’s Electro-Technical Officer allows connected equipment to be monitored from a single location, with remote diagnostics and reboot capabilities intended to minimise downtime and simplify technical support.

The yacht’s connectivity infrastructure combines Low Earth Orbit satellite services, conventional satellite communications and 5G connectivity, with internet speeds approaching 1 Gbit/s possible in favourable conditions. A global VoIP telephone system is supported by Iridium satellite communications to maintain voice connectivity across the yacht’s operating areas.

Entertainment onboard has also been designed to offer guests access to a broad range of content and services, including international television channels, streaming platforms, centralised film and music libraries, personal device content sharing and the Yachteye infotainment platform. Smart televisions have additionally been installed throughout the crew accommodation.

Exterior spaces have been equipped with adaptable entertainment capabilities, including a dedicated cinema in the crow’s nest and outdoor areas that can be configured for parties, live DJ performances and special events. Integrated Lutron lighting controls allow tailored lighting scenes to be created for different occasions.

The platform also supports the vessel’s day-to-day operations through professional crew communications, bridge announcements, CCTV and secure Wi-Fi coverage extending across guest, crew and technical areas. Cybersecurity has been incorporated into the overall infrastructure and is supported by Videoworks’ remote monitoring services.

Videoworks’ involvement extends beyond the onboard installation, with the company also providing the airtime services that support the yacht’s communications network. Through its 24/7 Network Operations Centre, the company monitors connectivity and AV systems and provides proactive remote assistance when required.

“Our responsibility doesn’t end at delivery. We have full responsibility for ensuring guests enjoy a seamless onboard entertainment experience at all times. By combining integrated AV and IT systems with our airtime services and 24/7 NOC monitoring, we can proactively support the vessel anywhere in the world.”

– Maurizio Minossi.

Traditional TVRO satellite television systems have also been included to meet specific owner and charter requirements, providing access to broadcast services in situations where internet-based streaming may not be the preferred solution.

Bringing its entertainment, communications, automation and network management technologies together within a single integrated environment, the completed installation has been designed to provide Amor à Vida with a scalable and resilient digital platform. Engineered and commissioned by Videoworks, the system is intended to deliver an intuitive, connected and fully supported experience for owners, guests and crew.
