Today, ANA HOLDINGS INC. (ANA HD) announced the addition of seven more DHC-8-400 aircraft to its fleet of De Havilland aircraft.
The aircraft will be modified in accordance with the DHC-8-400 fleet currently operated by ANA Group, in order to ensure compliance with safety management standards and ANA’s maintenance system needs. The aircraft will be purchased and reconditioned by De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited, certified in compliance with the original manufacturer’s specifications, and delivered under warranty to ANA.
“Our decision to expand the DHC-8-400 fleet reflects our ongoing commitment of reliable and economical aircraft that will enhance our existing fleet. De Havilland Canada’s comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul support will help us maintain our high standards of safety and service while supporting long-term reliability.”
Hidekazu Yoshida, Executive Vice President, Procurement at ANA.
Since Nov. 1, 2003, the ANA Group has been using the fuel-efficient DHC-8-400 aircraft. Beginning in 2025, ANA Group will progressively add new aircraft to its fleet in order to modernise it and give priority to customer convenience while maintaining a stable operational structure.
As of February 1, 2023, the ANA Group owns 24 DHC-8-400 aircraft, each of which has the capacity for up to 74 passengers. Due to its small size and lower weight compared to most aircraft, the DHC-8-400 can turn short circles. Its modest size allows it to operate on the short runways, typically found on remote islands, leading to the maintenance of remote island routes. The lighter DHC-8-400 aircraft is more environmentally friendly to fly than a smaller jet over the same distance since it uses less fuel every flight due to its low weight.
