HD Hyundai and Palantir Technologies Inc. have deepened their ongoing collaboration by formally expanding their strategic partnership, marking a significant milestone in the long-standing relationship between the two companies. The alliance now stands as Palantir’s largest and longest partnership in Korea and will further scale the use of Palantir Foundry and its Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) across the HD Hyundai Group.
The partnership originated in 2021 with HD Hyundai Oilbank and has since broadened to include shipbuilding and construction equipment operations. Within these businesses, Foundry and AIP have become foundational digital tools, underpinning initiatives such as connected refinery operations, the Future of Shipyard programme, and the advancement of construction equipment development. To date, the collaboration has produced measurable outcomes in areas including refinery performance, crude oil optimisation, predictive maintenance, and advanced sensor analytics at HD Hyundai Oilbank. In shipbuilding, Palantir’s technologies are playing a central role in coordinating complex data environments, acting as an orchestration layer alongside digital twin and 3D modelling solutions developed with other partners.
With the latest expansion, the partnership now reaches across a broader range of HD Hyundai’s operations, encompassing electric systems, robotics, and marine aftermarket services. This move brings expanded access to advanced AI technologies throughout the group, with several affiliates set to deploy Foundry and AIP for the first time as part of their digital transformation efforts.
Recent pilot programmes within HD Construction Equipment, along with continued system integrations across other units, reflect a shared focus on improving operational performance, strengthening supply chain integration, and accelerating digital innovation. The collaboration also extends into new growth areas, including robotics and electrification, supporting long-term efficiency and scalability across HD Hyundai’s diverse portfolio.
Looking ahead, Palantir and HD Hyundai plan to jointly establish a Centre of Excellence dedicated to Foundry and AIP. The initiative is intended to equip employees across the group with advanced analytics and AI capabilities, fostering enterprise-wide adoption and enabling the next generation of data-driven innovation.
“This expanded strategic partnership marks an important turning point in connecting data and workflows across HD Hyundai into a single, cohesive system—enabling faster and more sophisticated decision-making. Palantir is a partner with globally proven capabilities in AI-driven analytics, and this partnership will add strength in executing HD Hyundai’s digital transformation.”
– Chung Kisun, Chairman of HD Hyundai.
“HD Hyundai is a pioneering force in global industry, and the significant expansion of our partnership marks an exciting new chapter. We are committed to advancing our strategic collaboration and driving the group’s competitiveness, and we look forward to continuing to build together.”
– Dr Alex Karp, co-founder and CEO of Palantir Technologies.
The expanded partnership highlights a unified commitment to delivering meaningful impact across HD Hyundai’s businesses. By enabling closer collaboration and shared digital infrastructure across subsidiaries and affiliates, the initiative is expected to unlock new efficiencies while remaining closely aligned with the group’s broader digital transformation strategy.
