Technology group Wärtsilä will carry out Decarbonisation Modelling on two vessels in the Corsica Ferries fleet.
A digital model of the two ships will be constructed for the purpose of studying the impact of different decarbonization technologies on their environmental compliance. By implementing the latest technical innovations, accurate evaluation of efficiency gains can be achieved. Wärtsilä secured the order in March 2023.
Two sister vessels, the ‘Mega Express’ and ‘Mega Express II’, boast a length of 176 meters and rely on Wärtsilä engines and propellers. The evaluation of various technologies will include propeller re-blading and hybridisation, as well as Wärtsilä’s energy-saving propeller cap solution, Energoprofin, and Air Lubrication system, which reduce fuel consumption.
