UZMAR Group has secured a EUR 28 million financing facility from Germany-based AKA Bank, marking a significant step in the Turkish shipbuilder’s plans to expand its shipyard operations and increase construction capacity. The agreement forms part of the company’s wider long-term investment strategy, with the financing representing the first tranche of planned investment.
Backed by Euler Hermes and structured over a 10-year period, the agreement was formally signed by A. Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board at UZMAR Group, alongside Marck Wengrzik, CEO of AKA Bank, and Yücel Yilmaz, Director of Export & Agency Finance at AKA Bank.
The new financing is expected to support a substantial expansion of UZMAR Group’s shipbuilding capabilities, particularly in the construction of pilot and tug vessels. By increasing its production capacity, the company aims to strengthen its position within the maritime sector while continuing to invest in the long-term development of its shipyard facilities.
“This financing agreement marks a significant step in our growth journey.
With the support of AKA Bank and Euler Hermes, we are well positioned to expand our shipyard capabilities, deliver innovative projects and continue to contribute to the economy and national welfare.”
– A. Noyan Altuğ, Chairman of the Board at UZMAR Group.
The agreement also highlights growing financial support for Turkey’s shipbuilding industry, with AKA Bank CEO Marck Wengrzik highlighting the sector’s potential and the bank’s role in supporting its development.
“We are delighted to support the Turkish shipbuilding industry, a fast-growing and promising industrial sector, by financing UZMAR Group.”
For UZMAR Group, the financing provides a foundation for further strategic investment and future projects, enabling the company to build on its existing financial strength while creating additional value across the maritime industry. The increased capacity is expected to support the group’s continued development in the pilot and tug vessel market and contribute to its wider growth ambitions.
The transaction was supported by Istanbul-based Turkish consultancy Danista Capital Partners, which acts as a strategic partner of AKA Bank in the Turkish market. Berlin-based Textima Export Import GmbH was also involved in the transaction, serving as packager and general exporter.
The agreement marks another significant investment in UZMAR Group’s shipyard infrastructure as the company looks to expand its capabilities and strengthen its contribution to Turkey’s maritime and shipbuilding sectors.
