Oldendorff Carriers has annouced that the company has ordered two 61,300 Ultramax Newbuildings and acquired two 93,000 tdw Post-panamaxes in separate transactions.
The two Ultramaxes will be delivered in July 2022 from Dalian Cosco Kawasaki Ship Engineering Co Ltd (DACKS). The vessels feature Masada / Mitsubishi cranes, bollards for the New Panama Canal, “Erma First” BWTS, a Hudong-MAN-B&W 6S50ME-B9.3 main engine and a large content of equipment imported from Japan, like Daihatsu auxiliary engines, Nakashima propeller, etc.
For the two tdw Post-panamaxes, they were built in China in 2012 and will be taken over in India in April. They are equipped with a Korean-built Doosan-MAN-B&W 6S60MC and Doosan auxiliary engines. The company already had these vessels on floating index charter for several years.
Oldendorff Carriers’ last two Newcastlemax newbuildings, Heide Oldendorff and Hauke Oldendorff will be delivered from Hantong Shipyard in August and October / November 2021.
According to the company, after adding these transactions and ships that were recently taken on period charter, its fleet under operation will exceed 750 vessels.
Earlier this year Oldendorff Carriers has signed a Joint Development Project (JDP) with Anemoi Marine Technologies (Anemoi), Lloyd’s Register (LR) and Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) in developing a wind-assisted propulsion solution for Dry Bulk Carriers.
