Saudia is continuing to expand its fleet as part of its wider long-term growth and modernisation plans, with 12 additional aircraft scheduled for delivery during 2026. The national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s latest investment forms part of an ongoing strategy focused on increasing operational capacity, improving efficiency, and strengthening international connectivity as it continues to grow its global network.

The expansion is expected to support the introduction of additional international routes while also enhancing flexibility across the airline’s operations. As demand for travel continues to evolve, the addition of new-generation aircraft is intended to help Saudia align with modern aviation standards and changing passenger expectations, while further strengthening its role in connecting global travellers with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Among the latest additions to the fleet is the Airbus A321neo, which follows the recent introduction of Saudia’s first Airbus A321XLR. The aircraft includes 20 seats in Business Class and 168 seats in Guest Class, alongside updated cabin interiors designed to improve onboard comfort and overall travel experience. The aircraft also feature upgraded seating and high-speed inflight connectivity intended to enhance both passenger convenience and operational performance.

“Saudia’s fleet expansion strategy reflects a disciplined approach to building the capacity, efficiency, and readiness needed for the airline’s next phase of growth. In a highly competitive aviation sector, modernising and growing the fleet must be guided by clear market insight, network requirements, and alignment with national priorities under Saudi Vision 2030. This level of planning also extends to operational readiness, ensuring that each new aircraft entering service is supported by the required operational and maintenance capabilities.

Preparing the workforce for fleet expansion is just as important as preparing the aircraft themselves. Saudia has already graduated new cohorts of pilots, cabin crew, and maintenance specialists through training programmes aligned with the highest international aviation standards, ensuring operational readiness as new aircraft continue to join the fleet. With Saudia’s fleet expected to reach 161 aircraft by the end of the year, additional cohorts are currently undergoing training to support future deliveries. This reflects Saudia’s continued commitment to developing national talent and strengthening local content capabilities.”

– His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group.

The airline’s ongoing fleet development also supports the wider ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in relation to tourism growth and aviation expansion. By increasing connectivity and strengthening its international reach, Saudia continues to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s broader goal of establishing itself as a major global aviation hub.
