An agreement has been reached between NYK, Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated (“Kyushu Electric”), Sojitz Corporation (“Sojitz”), and Sembcorp Green Hydrogen Pte. Ltd. (“Sembcorp”) for the marine transport of green ammonia from India to Japan. Takahiro Rokuroda, General Manager of NYK’s Next Generation Fuel Business Group, was present at the signing ceremony held in Delhi, India.
Kyushu Electric and Sojitz, together with Sembcorp, established an agreement in June to supply green ammonia produced in this project to a range of industrial customers in Japan, primarily in the Kyushu region.
The agreement for this project has been based on the premise that it will generate about 200,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia yearly, which will then be carried to the Kyushu region to meet end user demand. This will be accomplished by utilising NYK’s experience and understanding in the marine transport of ammonia.
NYK will keep helping to build supply chains for next-generation energy, like ammonia, in the Kyushu area and across Japan through maritime shipping.
