Nathaniel (Nat) Pieper, a veteran of the airline business, has been named the next CEO of the oneworld® alliance. Pieper will begin his new position with the alliance on the 1st of April 2024. Pieper is currently senior vice president of fleet, finance, and alliances for oneworld member Alaska Airlines.
Pieper’s role as CEO will see oneworld through its 25th anniversary celebration year, with a focus on fortifying the partnership between its partners to offer clients a flawless and remarkable global travel experience. Pieper will report to the CEOs of the participating airlines on the alliance’s Governing Board.

In his present role at Alaska Airlines, Pieper led the airline’s oneworld entry, carried out aircraft trades totalling more than $9 billion, and obtained access to $5 billion in funding to keep Alaska afloat during the pandemic. Pieper has previously held executive positions managing financial, alliance, strategic, and international operations at Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

Pieper graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in history and from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with a master’s degree in finance, strategy, and transportation management.
