MTB Aviation was recently invited to attend the inauguration of Fenix Aerospace’s new facility in Madrid, a significant milestone for a company that has rapidly expanded its presence within the global aviation supply chain.
During the visit, we sat down with Chief Operating Officer Santiago Vasquez to explore the company’s origins, its growth, and the strategy behind its latest expansion.
Fenix Aerospace’s story is rooted in early exposure to the aviation industry through aircraft logistics, an experience that ultimately sparked the idea for the business.
“I’ve always had a curiosity about aircraft and aviation. We were working for our family aircraft logistics company, where we moved aircraft parts for a couple airlines in the Americas, and that sparked my curiosity.”
“We started thinking, how can we get in this business? We talked to a couple customers, and we decided, hey, we are already moving the parts; why not sell them? And from there the idea of Fenix Aerospace started.”
Founded between late 2017 and early 2018, the company has since seen rapid growth, something Vasquez attributes to a single defining factor.
“The growth of Fenix Aerospace comes down to one thing, our people. We built a team that’s not only experienced but deeply committed to moving fast, thinking ahead and delivering quality without compromise.”
That mindset, he explains, has been critical to scaling the business.
“The level of ownership and drive across every role is what has allowed us to scale quickly while still exceeding expectations.”
The opening of the Madrid office and warehouse marks a strategic step forward, placing the company at the centre of a key European aviation hub.
“The new Madrid office and warehouse is a strategic move for Fenix Aerospace because locations matter. Being in Madrid, we are at the centre of an aviation hub.”
It’s a move designed to strengthen both reach and responsiveness.
“It strengthens our global reach while reinforcing what we do best: delivering quality quickly wherever it is needed. Allowing us to be closer to our European customers, respond faster and streamline logistics across the region.”
Alongside geographic expansion, Fenix Aerospace continues to prioritise in-person engagement with customers and partners, something reflected in its commitment to MTB Events.
“Well, it fits great for us,” Vasquez said. “We want to participate in all Meet the Buyer events and build those relationships that we are known for.”
For the company, those relationships remain central to its long-term vision.
“Getting in touch with our customers, having that one-on-one experience that we do at the event is what we are looking for. We plan to be partnered with the brand for a long time.”
With a strong foundation, a clear strategy, and continued investment in both people and infrastructure, Fenix Aerospace’s expansion shows no signs of slowing, its Madrid facility serving as the latest step in an ongoing growth story.
